We all need a little help to get started on how look things up and start reading the Bible
Here are a few videos and tips to help you along the way
When you give or get a Bible reference, it contains:
1) the book name
2) the chapter
3) the verse(s)
Example:
Matthew 22:34-40
The book name is Matthew
The chapter is 22
The verses are 34-40
1) In the Table of Contents you will find that the book of Matthew is found in the New Testament. Your Bible should also give you a page number for the start of this book.
2)When you find the book of Matthew you can turn the pages until you find chapter 22.
3) Now look for verse 34. The verse numbers are the little ones found in the text, these are there to help us find exactly what we need.
4) Now you can read it to the end of verse 40.
Don't worry if it takes you a while to "get it"!
Just remember practice makes better, and we need to pratice everyday!
